The Horror Night of Room 505.
After breaking open the door of Room 505 with someone from the mountain, a heavy stench of decay rushed in along with the cold darkness.
Turning on the lights on the wall, he saw a male corpse lying horizontally in the living room with a contorted face, the blood on the ground already congealed and darkened.
In the bedroom directly facing the living room, they found another female corpse, looking miserable with obvious strangulation marks on her neck.
An hour ago, they received a report that strange odors were emanating from Unit 505. The call was made by a neighbor next door, who mentioned that a couple and a child lived in 505, but they had not been seen for several days.
At that moment, the police made another discovery. In the bathroom, a thin and weak little boy curled up on the floor, securely bound with a thick rope and duct tape over his mouth. Before they could approach, the exhausted boy passed out. Hastily, the mountain instructed the officers to take the unconscious child to the hospital.
The murdered couple, named Wang Daliu and Ceng Ling, were found in the bathroom, while their son Xiaobin was discovered in a curled up state. The following day, upon learning that the key figure in the case, Xiaobin, had awakened, the mountain rushed to the hospital immediately.
Xiaobin, now pale and weak, sat on the hospital bed staring blankly at the few people in front of him. He shook his head to all their questions, unable to remember anything. The doctor explained that this was a case of selective amnesia caused by a great emotional and physical trauma.
Left without parents and memories, Xiaobin was temporarily entrusted to his uncle for care.
There were several aspects of this case that the mountain could not understand.
Firstly, Wang Daliu's cause of death was poisoning, but oddly enough, there was a fruit knife inserted into his heart region and multiple stab wounds on his abdomen, all of which were inflicted after his death. Forensic examination revealed that the fruit knife only had one person's fingerprint on it, and this person was the other deceased in the case, Wang Daliu's wife, Ceng Ling.
The mountain took one puff of the cigarette after another, a solemn expression on his face.
Zeng Ling saw that she couldn't escape and shouted for help even more desperately. By the time Feng Hong rushed over after hearing the shout, Yang Mingcheng had already strangled her to death with the rope he carried with him.
Yang Mingcheng rubbed his elbow which had been hit, and complained to the stunned Feng Hong, "I didn't originally plan to kill her, but this woman kept screaming and making a fuss. If I didn't take action, we would both be finished."
Feng Hong swallowed hard a few times.
Back in the living room, they sat on the sofa discussing their next steps, and Yang Mingcheng analyzed Zeng Ling's scheme from start to finish. Feng Hong hesitated, with a look of wanting to speak but hesitating.
Seeing him so nervous, Yang Mingcheng rummaged under the coffee table and brought out disposable cups, filled them with water from the dispenser, and handed one to him. "You know the situation now, I killed her out of necessity. She wanted to frame us first. This is justifiable self-defense."
Feng Hong hesitantly took the paper cup and stared at the steaming hot water inside without making any further move.
Yang Mingcheng realized he was afraid that he might have poisoned the water, so he picked up the cup and took a few sips. "I've thought about it, let's not complicate the situation with the body. It's better to maintain the status quo. When the police come, it will be easy to see what happened - the wife tried to poison her husband by drugging his food, but before the poison took effect, it was exposed. Then the two fought, the wife grabbed a fruit knife and stabbed randomly, while the husband strangled her to death..."
Yang Mingcheng became more and more excited as he spoke, but Feng Hong interrupted him, "This explanation won't work, trying to attribute their deaths to mutual killing is too far-fetched, the police won't believe it."
"What's far-fetched about it, isn't the woman's fingerprints on the knife?" Yang Mingcheng said, "As long as we clean up the scene, leaving no evidence, the police won't find any other clues, and they will have to believe it."
Five deaths
Yang Mingcheng first cleaned his fingerprints in the bedroom, wiping down all the surfaces he might have touched. But he couldn't focus, feeling that something was strange, but unable to pinpoint what it was. To be safe, he decided to go outside again.
Just as he walked to the bedroom door, he saw Feng Hong in the living room, furtively doing something.
"What are you doing?"
Feng Hong was startled by the sudden question, and his phone fell to the ground with a snap. He picked it up in a fluster, stammering, "I... I was checking the time."
Yang Mingcheng pursed his lips, his expression unchanged, but he started to be on guard, was Feng Hong secretly calling the police?
At this point, Feng Hong was a loose end that couldn't be left. Yang Mingcheng narrowed his eyes, planning to take action when Feng Hong wasn't paying attention.
"We should dispose of these disposable cups too, they have our saliva on them." Feng Hong took the cups and walked towards the corner.
Seeing him crouching in front of the water dispenser with his back turned, Yang Mingcheng quietly approached him, slowly pulling out the knife hidden in his clothes. Just as he was about to stab, Feng Hong suddenly turned around, skillfully dodging the attack.
Yang Mingcheng didn't give up, fiercely stabbing at Feng Hong again. But for some reason, he suddenly felt his legs go weak, and he stumbled forward, the knife being taken away by Feng Hong in the process.
Then, he felt a sharp sting in his abdomen, looking down, he saw Feng Hong had plunged the whole knife in, and he had no strength to struggle.
Six interrogation
Based on the CCTV footage from the victim's neighborhood, the police identified several suspects and when they caught Feng Hong, it was a week later.
In the interrogation room, he hung his head, admitting to killing Yang Mingcheng, stuffing him into a travel bag, and burying him on a deserted mountain under the cover of night.
Feng Hong said that he initially agreed to cooperate with Yang Mingcheng out of necessity. He thought they were both in it for money, but he didn't expect to encounter a psychopathic killer.
"When he wanted Zeng Ling to stab the dead Wang Dalu, I knew something was wrong. Later, he even wanted us to dismember the body together. I was scared and wanted to find a way to escape, but soon after, Zeng Ling was strangled to death because she tried to escape." Feng Hong spoke with his head down, as if immersed in painful memories.
Gao Shan looked at Feng Hong, gesturing for him to continue.
"After he killed Zeng Ling, I knew I was his next target. Sure enough, not long after, he deliberately asked me to clean the fingerprints on the water dispenser. Luckily, I didn't let my guard down at all, and only when I turned my back to him, could I hear his footsteps coming at me and dodge the knife."
"How did you manage to take the dagger from him?" Gao Shan asked.
"He was poisoned," Feng Hong's tone was somewhat triumphant, "I had been stalling for time before, waiting for the moment the poison took effect in his body."
"When did you poison him?"
"It wasn't me, it was him himself - at that time, to avoid suspicion, Zeng Ling didn't put the drug in the food, but secretly threw it into the water dispenser. After Wang Dalu died, I was too nervous, so I forgot to tell Yang Mingcheng about this detail."
Feng Hong smirked, wearing a smug expression, "When he asked me to drink water, I thought he was trying to make me commit suicide, but he didn't even know the water was poisoned and ended up poisoning himself..."
Staring at Feng Hong's ugly face, Gao Shan remained silent with a cold expression.
Seven chill
The bizarre murder case ended with Feng Hong being sentenced to life imprisonment for intentional murder.
On the day of the sentencing, Wang Dalu's son, Xiaobin, appeared in the courtroom accompanied by his uncle, and Police Officer Gao Shan was present as well.
Xiaobin kept his head down, expressionless. He knew that everyone felt sympathy for him as an orphan who had lost both parents. What they didn't know was that his parents had passed away years ago.
Not only was Zeng Ling his stepmother, but Wang Dalu also had no blood relation to him - Wang Dalu was his mother's second husband.
His biological father had died of cancer many years ago, and his mother had died in a car accident two years ago.
After his mother's death, she left behind a large sum of insurance money, and Wang Dalu had bought the policy for her, using the money to tide over the company's financial crisis. Later, Wang Dalu also secretly bought him a large insurance policy.
Xiaobin harbored a deep hatred, wanting revenge but being powerless to do anything. He could only silently stay by Wang Dalu's side, gritting his teeth, quietly waiting for an opportunity. Finally, in the third year of Wang Dalu's remarriage, the opportunity came.
He purposely let Zeng Ling discover the news of the woman's pregnancy to stoke her resentment and evil intentions. The subsequent development surprisingly went smoothly, even though Zeng Ling didn't replace the hidden poison as he had hoped, Xiaobin didn't want to miss the opportunity and secretly poisoned the water dispenser.
He collapsed almost at the same time as Wang Dalu, pretending to be unconscious from the poisoning, then watched gleefully as they all went from panic, suspicion, turning against each other, to mutual killing.
After Feng Hong left with Yang Mingcheng's body, Xiaobin "imprisoned" himself in the bathroom with a loose knot on the rope, eating only a tiny bit of bread when hungry, enduring it although it was tough.
When the police found him, he passed out seamlessly. When he woke up, he became the most innocent victim in everyone's eyes. Even though there were still some loopholes, some unexplained parts, what did it matter? He was just an amnesiac victim, a poor child who lost both parents.
Not far away, Police Officer Gao Shan's gaze remained on Xiaobin in the courtroom.
He remembered asking Feng Hong in the interrogation room why he tied Xiaobin in the bathroom. Feng Hong recalled for a while and had no memory of that, saying it might have been done by Yang Mingcheng, and he didn't remember.
Although this detail seemed insignificant, it lingered in Gao Shan's mind, unable to be shaken. His professional habits made him view everyone with a hint of suspicion, even if the person was just a child.
As the judge announced the verdict, Gao Shan saw Xiaobin in the front row suddenly tilt the corner of his mouth, showing a mischievous smile.
Although the smile quickly disappeared, it made Gao Shan's heart tremble involuntarily.
