The Curse of the Wedding Night: The Beggar's Vicious Prophecy
As winter approached, it wasn't too cold yet in Xuanwu Town. A once quiet street was now bustling with activity as dozens of black cars formed a long line with a big "double happiness" character pasted on the front.
The Chen family, today celebrating their only son's wedding, had many relatives and friends in attendance, creating a festive atmosphere. The happiest person was the groom, Chen He, who was smiling so much that his cheeks were numb. He was bowing to everyone he saw, saying, "Welcome... please come inside."
Just as he was about to invite someone in, his new bride pinched him hard, causing him to lift his head and see a dirty and smelly beggar staring at him with pleading eyes. "Master, it's a joyous occasion with the wedding, please spare some change..." The beggar's strong voice quickly attracted the attention of many guests.
Although Chen He was not usually stingy, his pockets were filled with red envelopes from relatives on this day and he had no loose change. So, he grunted, "Go away! I have no change." As he tried to approach a new relative arriving, his sleeve was suddenly grabbed by the beggar. Chen He was surprised to find that he couldn't pull his sleeve away – the beggar's grip was surprisingly strong. Annoyed, Chen He sternly told him to leave, but the beggar then made a strange laugh and warned, "You'll regret not giving me money. Your whole family will regret it." With that, the beggar walked away, leaving Chen He feeling irritated.
That night, after a busy day, the newlyweds finally entered their new home. Chen He lay on the bed, counting the money they received as wedding gifts and feeling increasingly happy. Meanwhile, his new wife sat at the dressing table, repeatedly combing her hair and staring intensely at herself in the mirror. Suddenly, she let out a piercing scream.
Alarmed by her scream, Chen He looked at his wife, only to see her coldly staring back at him. She began recounting a traumatic event that had occurred during a rainstorm when they were driving on a country road. Chen He interrupted her and vehemently denied the event, urging her to forget. She fell silent, gazing at him as if searching his soul.
That night, the couple didn't exchange a word as they lay back-to-back on the bed. Chen He drifted off to sleep but was startled awake by a scream. Sitting in the car, he heard his wife's scream and saw a figure in front of the car. Before he could react by braking, it was too late. The person was hit and lay motionless on the ground.
Shocked, Chen He, trembling and covered in cold sweat, approached the person. To his horror, the person stood back up, revealing himself to be the beggar from earlier. The beggar, whose face was terrifyingly familiar, extended his bloody hand and grinned sinisterly.
Panicked, Chen He jumped back into the car, started it, and drove towards the beggar. Despite hearing his wife's screams, he proceeded to run over the beggar. The beggar flew into the air, laughing with malice as before.
Suddenly awakened from the nightmare, Chen He found himself sitting on his wife's lifeless body, his hands gripping her neck. He realized she was dead. The beggar's eerie laughter filled his ears as he was engulfed in madness.
As Chen He lost his sanity, he lit a charcoal fire in the room, locked the door, and finally smiled in relief. The next day, a tragic news story emerged from Xuanwu Town – a newlywed couple had perished due to carbon monoxide poisoning on their wedding night.
